Byte Classic Installation Instructions

Download Instructions

  1. On the downloads page, click on the appropriate link to download the installation program to your computer. The installation file is approximately 32 MB.
  2. When prompted to Open or Save the file, click on Save.
  3. Save the file ByteClassic.exe file in a folder you can easily remember. The My Documents folder or the Desktop are popular download destinations.

Installation Instructions - Installing or Updating Byte Classic on a Network

Follow these instructions if you are installing Byte Classic for the first time or if you are updating an existing version of the program on a network where multiple workstations are sharing a single loans database.

  1. Download ByteClassic.exe from the downloads page.
  2. Close Byte on the server and all workstations.
  3. Run ByteClassic.exe on the server.
  4. When the installation is complete, open Byte on the server. Byte will automatically begin updating your databases. Do not open Byte on any other computers until the databases are updated on the server.
  5. After the databases have been updated on the server, run ByteClassic.exe on each workstation.

Installation Instructions - Installing or Updating Byte Classic on a Stand-Alone computer

Follow the instructions below if you are installing Byte Classic on a single computer for the first time, or if you are updating an existing version of the program on a single computer.

  1. Download ByteClassic.exe from the downloads page.
  2. Close Byte.
  3. Run ByteClassic.exe.
  4. When the installation is complete, open Byte. Byte will automatically begin updating your databases. This may take quite a while. Do not interrupt the process.
