How do I import Byte loan files?

This pertains only to borrower files created in Byte. This import function will not work for borrower files from Fannie Mae or other LOSes.

Importing Byte loan files from a floppy

  1. On the Main Menu, click Files, and then double-click Import Loan Files.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. In the Look in box at the top of the screen, select 3½ Floppy (A:).
  4. Select the file found on the floppy disk, and then click Open.
  5. Choose the borrower files you want to import by selecting them or click All to choose all the files.
  6. Click Import. All files with unique file names will be imported automatically. When an imported file has the same name as an existing file in the current database, you will see a message. You can choose Don't Transfer if you don't want to overwrite the existing file in the main database, and Overwrite if you do.

Importing Byte loan files from email

  1. Open the email that contains the borrower file attachment.
  2. Save the attachment to a convenient folder on your computer, for example, Desktop, My Documents, etc.
  3. In Byte, on the Main Menu, click Files, and then double-click Import Loan Files.
  4. Click Browse, and open the Look in list. Locate and double-click the folder where you saved the attachment.
  5. Double-click the borrower file in the folder. Click Open.
  6. Click All, and then click Import.
  7. If the borrower file name already exists in your database, you will get a message warning you that you will have to Rename the incoming file, Copy over the existing file with the incoming file, or Not Transfer the incoming file.
