I am trying to create my HMDA report, and I keep getting errors that say my application date is not valid on my borrower files. The application dates are valid. What is wrong?

The HMDA report in Byte requires that all changes that affect the HMDA entry for a particular borrower file must be validated on the HMDA screen for that file. This means that whenever you make a change to the application date (in-processing date) or the loan status on the status screen, you must view the HMDA screen for that loan file before those changes will be reflected on the HMDA report.
This can be a problem if you have made changes to a number of different files without opening the HMDA screen for those files after the changes.

The quickest way to move changes from the status screen to HMDA:

  1. On the Main Menu, click Communications on the left, then double-click HMDA in the center section.
  2. If you need to make changes to the status screen for a certain loan file, click the small status button to the left of the loan file. If you already know the status screen is correct, ignore the status button and proceed to step 3.
  3. Click the small HMDA button to the left of the loan file. If necessary, click Fill to pull the action date into the HMDA screen. Click Close.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each loan file. You do not have to open the status screen if those changes have already been made.
